BOOK REVIEW: Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan

    – BUY Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan

    What’s the story about?

When Bree Prescott arrives in the sleepy, lakeside town of Pelion, Maine, she hopes against hope that this is the place where she will finally find the peace she so desperately seeks. On her first day there, her life collides with Archer Hale, an isolated man who holds a secret agony of his own. A man no one else sees.

Archer’s Voice is the story of a woman chained to the memory of one horrifying night and the man whose love is the key to her freedom. It is the story of a silent man who lives with an excruciating wound and the woman who helps him find his voice. It is the story of suffering, fate, and the transformative power of love.

    What did I think?

I’m not quite sure where to begin with this one. I might start with the fact that this book is absolutely incredible!

I want to write a long review like I normally would do, but that would mean I’d have to tell you little things that happen in the book that I loved and try convince you to read it, and this is a story that you really need to just experience for yourself. I don’t want to tell you something small and say “this was so amazing”, because it’s all apart of this incredible journey. But let me put it this way, Archer’s Voice is one of the most incredible books I have ever read. It’s up there right along side Fighting Redemption by Kate McCarthyand if you know how much I love that book, you will understand my love for Archer’s Voice.

The one thing I will talk about though, is Archer.

    Archer Hale.

    Archer, Archer, Archer…

Archer Hale has completely changed me. I’m experiencing a serious book hangover at the moment. The absolutely devastating life Archer has had and the journey he went on throughout this entire story to get to where he is now, was nothing short of inspiring. Mia Sheridan is brilliant. She has written one of the most incredible stories I will probably ever come across. Archer is one of the most beautiful souls I have ever had the privilege of reading about, and I will be thanking Mia for eternity for bring him into my life. With every single page turned, I just wanted to hold him and tell him that everything will be ok because, you see, Archer doesn’t talk, and for his entire life he has sheltered himself from everything and everyone. He is lonely, he is broken, until Bree.

I would sit here and type up quotes for you but I would honestly just be writing out the entire book all over again, but I do want to share one quote with you:

You can’t hear me… I can’t help that. He looked down for a second and then back up to me. But I want you to see me

I mean it when I say that Archer Hale has stolen my heart. He has made me see the world in a more beautiful way. He has inspired me, he has encouraged me, and he has made me smile like no other hero has, and he really is just that. A hero, but not in the way most of them are. He is unique, he is special and he is someone I will introduce to my daughter one day, when the time is right, because he is a true hero (and shares the same birthday as my daughter 😉 )

And just as Bree said in the book:

“my wonderful healer, my beautiful Archer”

And I thank you Mia Sheridan, from the bottom of my heart, for giving us the incredible story, Archer’s Voice.

NOTE: This is a STANDALONE novel in the Sign of Love Series by Mia Sheridan and can be read without having read the others, although I would recommend them all to you.

BOOK REVIEW: CAGE by Harper Sloan

    Cage-2-HSBook in Review:

Cage (Corps Security #2) by Harper Sloan

    My rating:

    4.5 sexy as hell stars!!

    What’s the book about?

Greg Cage was born to protect. While growing up, he was his mother and sister’s shield against the world… until he failed. For the last decade, he has carried that guilt and need for vengeance around… until it was stripped from him. Now, with his best friend getting married and no longer needing his protection, he is even more lost, completely adrift, and desperate for some control. All he has ever known was how to protect: his family, his friends, and his country. Can he go against everything he has ever known, and give up that control?

Melissa Larson will never let anyone hold the reins in her life. She has been the rock in her family for more years than she can remember, and the fight to keep them together is her main priority right now. She has always been fiercely independent and proud. The last thing she will ever do is ask for someone else’s help. But when that choice is out of her control, forcing her to rely on others to save her and her family, and pick up the pieces that are left, will she be able to let someone else be her strength?

The second Greg locks eyes with Meli, he knows that she is someone he needs. Someone he craves. Meli knew the second she met Greg that he would be nothing but trouble and heartache. Her life takes an unexpected turn, and that bitch Fate is back to wreak more havoc on another member of the Corps family. All hell breaks loose, leaving Greg no choice but to call in a favor. He hooks back up with his old friend Braxxon Breaker from the Breakneck MC. Together, they make sure that nothing threatens anyone Greg loves again

    My thoughts:

I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Cage. I absolutely love love love an alpha male, full of sexy tats, big muscles and a huge………..  Heart (get your mind out of the gutter!) We meet Cage in book #1 Axel and this is where his story begins, so even though each book reads as a standalone, it is recommended that you read them in order to get the whole story -> (Buy #1 AXEL)

We know that Greg lost his sister tragically to domestic violence and Cage’s life mission since then is to bring down the man who did this to her. Cage went off the rails for a while and tragically, his sisters ex got to another innocent woman and she tragically lost her life too.

Enter Melissa. She is sexy, strong willed, driven and determined. She has a mouth on her that had me laughing out loud on many occasions. When Cage first see’s Melissa, he is blown away. She’s breathtakingly beautiful. Melissa turns out to be friends with Izzy and Axel, and therefore is around a lot in the beginning and we start to see Cage fire up over her being around, he becomes obsessive and protective even though she isn’t his.

“There was doubt in my mind now; I wanted her and I wouldn’t stop until I had her”

Cage and Melissa’s relationship hit off with a bang, literally. God, the sexual tension between them was crazy hot, and OMG, if you thought these Corps boys were hot, get this… Melissa’s description of Cage is this “Huge, thick and DECORATED.” – Are you dying yet? Because its not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES !!!!!!!! faints

But their happiness is threatened when both their pasts come back to haunt them, and Cage promises to do everything he can to protect Melissa from it. But it backfires. The story is full or drama that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The last 40% had me “OMGing” quite a few times as scenes jump out of you from nowhere. It kept the story flowing and me very interested.

Harper is hilarious, and this book is so well written, it flowed so nicely and I seriously couldn’t put it down. Cage is by far my favourite alpha male at the moment, so completely swoon worthy

“Beauty, you can call me whatever you want as long as you’re screaming it.”

I mean come on, seriously? Beauty? swoons what a babe! This whole book is dripping with hot sex, steaminess, love, lust, action, drama and hilarious moments like the “don’t say pussy in church, motherfucker” scene. HAHA I still laugh out loud when I think about it!

Harper’s a genius. I loved AXEL, I loved CAGE so bring on BECK I say! I need to know what’s going down in that relationship because it’s giving me whiplash!

I totally recommend this book. I’m a huge fan of this series and a huge fan of Harper Sloans. I can’t wait for more!

BOOK REVIEW: Give Me Strength by Kate McCarthy

Quinn Salisbury doesn’t think she’s cut out for this whole living thing. Even as a young girl she struggled. Just when she thinks she’s found a way to leave her violent past behind her, the only thing that’s kept her going is ripped away, leaving her damaged and heartbroken.

Four years later, she is slowly rebuilding her life and lands a job as an assistant band manager to Jamieson, the hot new Australian act climbing their way to the top of the charts. There she meets Travis Valentine, the charismatic older brother of her boss, Mac.

From his commanding charm to his confidence and passion, Travis is everything Quinn believes is too good for her, and despite her apprehension, she finds their attraction undeniable and intense.

When her past resurfaces, it complicates their relationship. Instead of reaching out for help, Quinn pushes Travis away, until a staggering secret is revealed that leaves her fighting for her very life.

Torn between running and opening her heart to the man determined to have her, can Quinn find the strength within herself to fight for her future?

Squeeeee!!!!!! Another winner in the Give Me Series!!! I just loooooooove these books.

I went straight into this book after finished Give Me Love which I loved so much, so my expectations for book 2 were way up there. And it did not disappoint.

Quinn is running from her life. Trying get away from the abusive relationship with her parents. After her boyfriend dies suddenly, his parents take her in until she is able to get her feet back on the ground. She moves into an apartment and there she meets her best friend Lucy and her husband Rick, who quickly become the most important people in her life. On a night out with Lucy, Quinn goes home with Travis for what she thought would be a one-night-stand. Later learning that her new job with Jamison as Mac’s assistant would land her a little too close to Travis, because he’s Mac’s brother.

Travis shows up in her life when she needs him the most, although she doesn’t see it that way. She doesn’t want him involved in anything or getting hurt. There is a twist in the story I didn’t see coming. It’s not overly huge, but it alters feelings and takes the story on more of a dramatic turn. Evidently, giving the story a hell of a roller coaster ride.

This book hit a deeper spot for me than book 1. I think the underlying story and the themes were a lot more emotionally charged. Kate is a wonderful writer and was able to bring these scenes to life in a way that made you not only think about Quinn, but about all the other people in the world who have gone through or who are going through the same things. It’s truly heartbreaking. Give Me Strength is jam packed full of drama and Quinn quickly becomes a member of the badass brigade with her chair throwing antics. (you too can become a member, click here to join!)

Throughout the story you get both Quinn and Travis’ POV, which I love. Their chemistry is out of this world and knowing Travis’ feelings made the story flow so well.

I just love Travis. He is so manly, so sexy, so incredibly sweet.

“I watched you. From the moment you walked in that bar, I saw you. Amongst all the shallow and the fake, you looked like spring”

What broke my heart was that knowing Quinn was so damaged, she didn’t feel that she deserved Travis or everything that came with him, and that included his family. His crazy, always in your face, absolutely insane, family.

On a side note, I love Mac. I’m totally girl crushing on her. She is probably my favourite female character in this whole series. Kate has said that she will get her own book, so I am so excited about that!

Kate has such a way with words. I found myself laughing out loud and smiling like an idiot through most of this book. It’s cheeky, fun, hilarious and amazing.

This scene happened before anyone knew of Travis and Quinn’s night together.

Jake nudged my shoulder [Quinn]. “So who’s the guy?” Without taking my eyes from the screen, I said, “So what’s going on with you and Mac?” He patted me on the thigh.
“I’m glad we had this conversation.”
“Me too,” I muttered at his retreating back

Amongst the funny, this book was just so beautiful. Travis’ adoration for Quinn is so obvious it hurts! I found their relationship heartbreaking at times, but I was falling in love with the both of them from the very beginning. Kate has created tow characters that need each other more than they realise.

“I’m keeping you, you know that, right?”

Another thing I loved about this story was that I felt like I was learning things about love for the very first time myself. Kate told the story in such a way that I could feel myself going through everything with Quinn and learning with her along the way. My favourite quote about that was this:

“I wasn’t whole. I wasn’t sure I ever would be, but Travis loving me made me realise that no one ever really was. If we were, how did it explain the need for someone to fill us with their love?”

I am seriously so in love with this series. They are going down as one of my favourite book series ever. I read them and I feel like I’m hanging out with my friends. Definitely check this series out. It really has a bit of absolutely everything I love about reading!

BOOK REVIEW: Give Me Love by Kate McCarthy

Evie Jamieson, a former wild child, is not only a headstrong, smart-mouthed trouble magnet, she is also a lead singer with a plan. That plan involves relocating her band, including her two best friends guitarist Henry and band manager Mac, to Sydney to kick off their dreams of hitting the big time.

Jared Valentine is the older brother of Evie’s best friend Mac and also the man determined to make Evie his. They strike up a long distance friendship which suits Evie because she’s determined to avoid the distraction of love, not only because it doesn’t fit in with her plan but because twice in the past it has left her for dead. Moving to Sydney however, has put her directly in Jared’s path and he has decided it’s the perfect opportunity to make his play.

Unfortunately Jared, co-owner in a business that ‘consults’ in dangerous hostage and kidnapping situations, makes an enemy who’s determined to enact revenge. When this enemy puts Evie in his sights, Jared not only has a fight on his hands to make her his own, but also to keep her alive.

Is accepting the love he’s so desperate to give worth the risk to both her heart…and her life?

“One day, you’ll belong to me, Evie, and I’ll know everything about you”

Kate McCarthy has done an absolutely outstanding job with her debut novel. This book was just amazing. Emotionally charged, drama filled, action packed and so. much. fun! love love LOVED it. Sooooooo much!!!

Give Me Love was one of those books that I just couldn’t put down. I read it in one sitting. Kate writes this story so incredibly well. At some points during the book I was about to wipe my tears when I’d burst out laughing, and I adore those kinds of books. Just enough emotion and then a one liner to snap you out before you become a blubbering mess.

Evie is pretty badass, but she was one of those heroines that I connected with immediately. I absolutely love her and her crazy best friend/band manager Mac. Their friendship is #bestfriendgoals.

Evie has had a horrible run of relationships but her passion for music, the love she has for her band and the support from her best friends/room mates Mac and Henry have gotten her through. They all pick up from Melbourne, Australia and move to Sydney to pursue their lifelong dream of making it big in the music world.

“Music wasn’t just my therapy, it was my life, and as long as I had that, I had everything I needed”

Jared is the older brother of Mac. He is co-owner of a company that ‘consults’ in dangerous hostage and kidnapping situations who also works with Evie’s brother Coby.

The Synopsis is a very well written indication of the storyline, so I wont go into anymore detail on that.

Jared and Evie had been friends for a few years before their relationship formed. Evie had been avoiding him, knowing her feelings for him were strong and has convinced herself that she doesn’t need another reason to have her heart broken again. She’s becoming protective of herself and shuts out any hope of finding true love.

The chemistry between them is h.o.t from the very beginning. You know Jared is very much attracted to Evie, he never tries to hide it. When Jared and Evie are hot, they’re sizzling, and they have so much adoration for one another is completely captivating, and so beautiful. But when they are not, oh god, they are a disaster. So much so that I was left heartbroken on more than one occasion, and I felt absolutely EVERYTHING.

“I feel like everything is so much brighter when I’m with you. When you are not there it’s like someone turned out the lights”

I absolutely loved this book. LOVE LOVE LOVE! The drama in this story will keep you turning pages until you have completely finished. You will not want to stop, so make sure you don’t start it late at night, or you will be up till the wee hours of the morning.

Being from Sydney myself, I LOVED reading about our beautiful places around the city, but Kate writes the story in a way where you don’t need to know anything about Sydney. You are able to visualise every detail in the story- I kept thinking to myself “I can really picture this happening” – Kate is very good like that.

This is a standalone, with a complete HEA and an Epilogue. But I just want to mention this Epilogue… Oh my god. One of the best Epilogues I have ever read, and the last Epilogue I read that was just as amazing was in Fighting Redemption. Kate is a total writing genius. This whole book took me on an incredible journey. I felt so much for each character that was involved in anything, I loved, I laughed, I cried and I seriously could not put this down.

BOOK REVIEW: Axel by Harper Sloan

    Image 13-01-14 at 3.10 PM

Note from the author–This book is intended for a mature reading audience and isn’t suitable for younger readers.

Book 1 of Harper Sloan’s Corps Security series would have to be one of my favourite second chance stories. If you haven’t had a chance to check this one out yet, I’d be bumping it up your reading list. You will not be disappointed.

With a story very believable, it is also heartfelt, deeply emotional, very well written and it flows really well. Harper Sloan has quickly becoming one of those authors I cannot wait to read.

Fate hasn’t always been on Izzy’s side. She has been in an abusive marriage for the past 7 years. She lost the love of her life at such a young age, and along with a miscarriage, life has really kicked Izzy in the gut. Axel was it for her. The most amazing man she could have ever ask for. But after a sting of crossed wires, Izzy feels she has lost her soul mate forever.

“I miss my dreams, the sun, and I miss him. So fucking much.”

4 years later, stuck in a marriage she can’t run from. Until her best friend Dee helps her escape. Izzy’s soul is shattered, and with the help of her best friends Dee and Cage, she is slowly piecing her life back together in hope for finding love again.

This story had me on the edge of my seat. Axel and Izzy’s reunion had me turning pages so fast I couldn’t keep up with myself! I was totally consumed with every word. Each of the characters is a joy to read about and become a part of the family in my head. Harper Sloan has an incredible way with words and it keeps me turning pages until the very last.

I absolutely love the change in POV’s in this book. Knowing what the other character is thinking and feeling during a particular scene (especially a turning point) is always great, and it helps  you understand the characters more as well.

There were some really difficult parts to get through. Axel and Izzy’s parting 12 years ago didn’t come the way that they had hoped. Izzy was told one thing and what happened to Axel was something completely different. This was quite frustrating for me as their conversations throughout the beginning of their reunion had me almost screaming at my kindle saying “just freakin’ tell him already!” … So yeh, very frustrating. What was even harder to read was Axel’s feelings. He thought Izzy had just picked up and left him, and that cut me deep.

“It would have been quicker if she had stuck around and shot me in the fucking chest. At least I would have died instantly, instead of bleeding out slowly for the last twelve years.”

I was hurting for the both of them yet screaming for them to just sit down and communicate.

This book is a standalone. All books in this series are standalones. Harper is also very clear that she HATES cliffhangers. So rest assured, all her books have a completely resolved ending, which I love.

Overall, I really loved this book. I would definitely recommend this to everyone who loves a tough, solid Alfa male you favourite books. This will not let you down.

BOOK REVIEW: The Mighty Storm by Samantha Towle

    The-Mighty-Storm-cover 5++  ‘Tru Love’ STARS

    What’s the story about?

It’s been twelve years since Tru Bennett last saw Jake Wethers, her former best friend and boy she once loved.

Jake Wethers, sexy, tattooed and deliciously bad lead singer, and brains behind The Mighty Storm, one of the biggest bands in the world, left Tru with a broken heart when he moved from England to America with his family when they were both fourteen.

Sent to interview Jake for her music column by the magazine she works for, they are both unprepared for the sparks that fly the instant they reconnect. Only, there’s a complication to their instant feelings for one another—Will, Tru’s boyfriend of two years.

Then Jake makes Tru a job offer she can’t refuse—travelling the world with him and his band. But taking the job means leaving Will behind, and being on the road with the band means spending an inordinate amount of time with Jake.

Is Tru strong enough to resist the delectable bad boy who once held her heart so completely, or will she willingly risk it all for one night with the world’s most notorious womanizer?

An absolutely AMAZING story. I love love love this book. Like, SOOOOOO much!!!!

This is one of the best second chance, rockstar romance books I’ve read in a VERY long time… maybe ever. It’s got everythingyou ever want in a rockstar romance. It’s so sizzling hot, you will be fanning yourself all. the. time.

Best friends Tru and Jake were neighbours in England for many years. One day. Jake and his mum moved with her new husband to America and Tru never heard from Jake again.

12 years later Tru is working for a magazine and her editor has set up an interview with one of the worlds biggest (and hottest) rockstars in the world, Jake. Tru is assigned the job, as she and Jake have a history, and her editor is hoping that will help Jake open up more than what he has in the past.

“Jake Wethers, the man who used to be the boy I loved.”

The chemistry between Jake and Tru is there from the very first second, and boy can you feel it! It’s seriously sizzling hot, Jake is all sex, he’s all man, and he’s SO in love with Tru, you can feel it through the pages. All the flirting, cheeky texts, Jake’s sneaky move have Tru closer to him are all reasons why I freakin’ love this book.

NOW – there is a love triangle. Tru has been with her boyfriend, Will, for 2 years. And normally, love triangles make me queasy, but for some reason, this was an exception. I think maybe because I fell in love with Jake from the minute Tru stepped into the interview, and from then on, I just wanted them to be together.

“He leans back and stares down at me, and then I suddenly see it there in his eyes, unconcealed. The lust. The want. He wants me. He’s trying to seduce me. I’m so completely fucked.”

The Mighty Storm is filled with so much drama, it’s crazy. You get to know all the band members in Jake’s band (The Mighty Storm) quite well, and you also get to know more about the type of life Jake has been living the last 12 years. This causes problems and huge trust issues on both parts, but all this just adds to the greatness of the book.

So, can I pleeeeese talk more about Jake? – OK – did I mention how ridiculously SEXY this man is?? Totally insatiable. I would drop everything in a heart beat if he came knocking on my door. The man is dripping with sex, but he is also the sweetest rockstar I’ve come across. The way he treats Tru is really beyond words. Don’t get me wrong, he’s not perfect, not even close, but that is why I love him. I freakin’ love him.

“I loved you from the moment I knew how to love.”

There is a second book – Weathering the Storm – but there is no cliffhanger. It ends well for Jake and Tru, but it was definitely a very hard road to getting there.

Samantha Towle writes a brilliant novel, fast paced, gripping, it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. There was not a moment that I wanted to put the book down (although life does happen around you) but I was so eager to come back to it everytime.

I could read about Jake and Tru all day long. They are one of my favourite book couples and The Mighty Storm will go down as one of the best rockstar romances ever written in my books. This one takes pride on my bookshelf.

“…I’m not going anywhere. Remember, I promised. I’m yours now, forever.”

5++ ‘Rush is my undoing’ STARS

    What’s the story about?

    BLURB for BOOK 1

To want what you’re not supposed to have…
    She is only nineteen.
She is his new stepfather’s daughter.
She is still naïve and innocent due to spending the last three years taking care of her sick mother.

But for twenty-four year old Rush Finlay, she is the only thing that has ever been off limits. His famous father’s guilt money, his mother’s desperation to win his love, and his charm are the three reasons he has never been told no.

Blaire Wynn left her small farmhouse in Alabama, after her mother passed away, to move in with her father and his new wife in their sprawling beach house along the Florida gulf coast. She isn’t prepared for the lifestyle change and she knows she’ll never fit into this world. Then there is her sexy stepbrother who her father leaves her with for the summer while he runs off to Paris with his wife. Rush is as spoiled as he is gorgeous. He is also getting under her skin. She knows he is anything but good for her and that he’ll never be faithful to anyone. He is jaded and has secrets Blaire knows she may never uncover but even knowing all of that…

Blaire just may have fallen too far”

This basically sets the scene for one of my all time favourite book series – It’s the story of Rush and Blaire and it’s probably one of the hottest, romantic and most addictive reads I have ever come across.

    Main Characters

Blaire Wynn – The poor darlin’. I really feel for her. She has just lost her mum, 5 years after loosing her sister and having her dad  walk out on them and is now left with no-one else to turn to, but him. Her dad. She’s stunning, sweet, innocent and so mature for her age, I really related to her, which I loved. I felt like we could be friends, you know? So the whole time I was backing her 100% with all the choices this girl had to make.

“He wasn’t what sent me running. He was what had made me want to stay.”

Rush Finlay – OK, let me just start off by saying how freakin’ sexy this guy is.  Probably one of the hottest male leads I have read about (along side Jake Weathers of course). He is the son of a rockstar and the guy can sing. I mean serious sing. He’s got a crazy ass sister who I wanted to smash in the face the entire series, a sort-of-brother in Grant who I LOVE and a group of hussies walking in and out of his house everyday. The guy just screams sex.

“Blaire, I’m not a romantic guy. I don’t kiss and cuddle. It’s all about the sex for me. You deserve someone who kisses and cuddles. Not me. I just fuck, baby. You aren’t meant for someone like me.”

    What did I think?

I think this series is totes amazing. But let me prepare you though – if you are going to read it, you need to have all 3 book handy. Here, download them onto your kindle right now and just start reading. Links here: Fallen Too Far, Never Too Far and Forever Too Far, because firstly, book 1 has a mother of a cliffhanger and you’re gonna need book 2 handy, so make sure when you don’t finish book 1 at like 2am, because you wont be sleeping, at all… Book 2 is filled with so many tears and so drama, I had to distance myself from my own life because I couldn’t handle anymore. And book 3 has its fair share of drama but is really, the perfect conclusion to this incredibly passionate, sexy, emotional, fun and totally addictive book series.

“How do I soothe his ache when mine was a big gaping hole large enough for both of us to fit in?”

I would absolutely recommend this book to everyone old enough to read it. Push it up your TBR list pronto. Abbi Glines has created an amazing series that I will forever re-read for a long time to come.

“I never imagined anyone like you, Blaire. But every time I think about forever with you, I’m humbled that you chose me.”  – Rush

Then a man shows up out of the blue, claiming that her long lost love, Leo, sent him to check up on her. The attraction between them is undeniable. But, should she trust this sexy stranger? Or is he keeping a secret about what his connection to Leo is really all about and why Leo disappeared all those years ago?

I have re-read this book twice now, because it was that beautiful. The best thing about this book is that there are a few big ‘OMG’ moments that just make this book what it is.  It’s really great!

It’s not a very long book, which I loved, but it all all the elements that make a great book in my eyes; it made my heart race, my eyes water, my mind crazy and my soul shake.

Throughout the book, we get great flashbacks of Evie and Leo when they were little. Most the time, I don’t like too many flashbacks, but they really did make the story in the end.

The description of their first kiss was beautiful. Set in one of the flashback scenes when they were quite young, Mia Sheridan was able to write this and make it beautiful.

“I’m going to kiss you now, Evie, and when I do, it’s going to mean that you’re mine. I don’t care how far away we are from each other. You. Are. Mine. I’ll wait for you. And I want you to wait for me. Promise me.”

This book was very well written. The story flowed so nicely and I pretty much read it in one sitting. Throughout the story, my head was searching possible outcomes, trying to figure out how the book was going to end, but Mia Sheridan had me for the entire book!

This book has a twist i didn’t coming. At all.

There is no cliffhanger to this story, even though there is another book.

I really enjoyed the journey this book took me on. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves those second chance novels.

LTNLove Thy Neighbour (Friend-Zoned #2) by Belle Aurora

Asher ‘Ghost’ Collins and Natalie Kovac shared a passionate night together. One neither of them can forget.

Why is it so hard for them to be around each other?

With no hope of the two getting along they decide to go their separate ways. And somehow end up closer than they’ve ever been.

Will friendship ever be enough for the pair?

I just want to begin my review by saying a few words about Author Belle Aurura. What a gem. I cannot begin to tell you how much I LOVE her as an author. Every single word she puts to paper is genius. She is so incredibly talented, she’s funny, witty, cares so much for her readers and bloggers and she is just all round totally awesome.

    My Review

SQUEEE!!! This series is fast becoming one of my all time favs! Belle Aurora, you are AMAZING! Your words, your characters, your storytelling. Guys, this book has all the feels!! LOVED IT!

We meet Natalie and Asher ‘Ghost’ in book 1 ‘Friend-Zoned’, where a one night ridiculously hot, sexual encounter started one of the funniest story lines I have read in a book for a long time. According to Nat, it was a ‘moment’ shared between the two

“Ghost, whose real name is Asher, and I had a ‘moment’ last year. If a ‘moment’ includes being dragged down the hall of a club, having your panties ripped off, then being fucked on a conference table while you beg and scream for more, then, yes, we shared a moment.”

Agreeing to stay away from one another after that one night, the tension between Nat and Ghost is so obvious. Then Nat moves in next door to Ghost and things escalate. The constant banter between these two strong willed characters makes for a great read. They are always trying to out do one another and the sexual tension between them since that one night a year ago is so strong this neighbourly ‘friendship’ between them becomes hilarious to watch unfold.

The story is so incredibly well written. I absolutely love the way Belle Aurora has the characters talking to themselves throughout the book. It not only helps us understand the story, it’s also so funny to hear what goes on inside their heads when they’re not talking to each other.

“The man is insufferable. A total dickhead. No manners what-so-ever. None. So why can’t you stop thinking about his winkie? God. I suck.”

One of the best things about this series is the friendship circle. Poker nights, VIP’s at the boys’ night club. It really makes me a little depressed that I can’t hunt them down and join in their circle. This book series would make for a perfect movie – Hollywood take note – I would seriously watch it everyday just to ‘hang with my friends’, cause that’s what it felt like I was doing the entire time.

Belle Aurora has a way with words. Yes this book is incredibly funny and totally sexy, but its also deep and emotional. Nat and Asher’s relationship changes them both. It teaches them things about their relationship, as well as themselves, both have no idea how to love, and together, that kinda makes them perfect.

I absolutely love this book. Its beautiful, its deeply emotional yet hilarious in all the right places. Asher and Nat’s story is one of my favourites. Definitely a must read!

BOOK REVIEW: Present Perfect by Alison G. Bailey

Present PerfectAmanda Kelly spent her entire life trying to control every aspect of it, while striving for perfection. Her obsession with being perfect, along with her feelings of worthlessness, consumed her. The one thing she thought was perfect in her life was the bond she shared with her best friend, Noah.

Everything was going according to her life plan until she woke up one day and realized she had fallen in love with him. The one thing she couldn’t control was the affect he had on her. Noah had the power to give her one hundred lifetimes of happiness, which also gave him the power to completely devastate her. He was the one thing in her life that was perfect, but she couldn’t allow herself to have him.

Her life begins to unravel. Events take over and force her to let go of her dreams and desires. She needs to realize that a person cannot control the events in their life, only their reaction to them…but will it be too late for her to save her relationship with her best friend?

Present Perfect is a story of how past events have present consequences and how perfect your present could be if you stopped fighting and just allowed it to happen.

“I’ve been unsure about many things in my life except for one thing, that I have always loved him. Every single minute of every single day that I have been on this earth, my heart has belonged to him. It has never been a question, never a doubt. The love had taken on many different forms over the years, but it had always been a constant.”

Amanda Kelly has spent her entire life living in the shadow of her ‘perfect’ older sister. Her parent’s compare them almost every day, and Amanda has had enough. She battles everyday to be able to see herself as ‘perfect’, yet her best friend Noah, has told her so, every day.

Noah and Amanda have been best friends since the day they were born and there is one thing she is certain of, and that is her love for Noah.

Now, where on earth do I begin? – Well… this book was incredible. Present perfect was one of the most well written books I have read in a very long time. Alison Bailey’s use of words got me in all the right places. I felt pain, I felt love, I felt every single emotion that I could ever imagine reading a book.

I have to be completely honest with you though, for a lot of the book, I felt anger. I felt so incredibly angry I almost didn’t finish it. Sometimes all I wanted to do was throw my iPad up against the wall. But if I didn’t feel angry, I wouldn’t have felt the story the way Alison Bailey intended me to feel.

Amanda’s character frustrated me a lot of the time, but at the same time, I knew exactly why she made the decisions she did. It’s the honesty that I love about this book. It’s that honest to god – this is how its going down, type of book. There are no cliché romances here. Noah and Amanda’s relationship is beautiful. Noah adores her, more than she realises. But that fine line between friendship and love is there and Amanda doesn’t want to cross it. She doesn’t want to ruin the only good thing in her life.

“There hasn’t been a day in my life that I haven’t loved you. I just wish you would let me love you.”

Amanda struggles through the entire book with her self-esteem. I really felt a lot of heart ache for her and how she saw herself, especially because Noah didn’t see her that way. Noah wants more, he loves Amanda, but she just wont do it. This was a big thing for me in the book. All I wanted was for Amanda to see for herself, just let herself feel and then maybe she will see what we all see.

“You’ve always been my girl and always will be. No one will ever take me away from you, Tweet. You’re my heart and soul and that’s never going to change, no matter what you say.”

This story stole my entire heart. It ripped it out and broke it into a million pieces. This wasn’t your typical love story about childhood sweet hearts. It’s gut wrenching, soul shattering, heart breaking and totally and utterly beautiful.

Keep a BOX of tissues handy. I needed them. This book will consume you, and it will stay with you, forever.
