6++ Second Chance STARS

When Lauren Monroe first laid eyes on Michael Delaney back in high school, she had every reason to stay away from him; within minutes of their first encounter, his volatile actions confirmed his notorious reputation. But Lauren saw something in him that caused her to question his bad-boy persona, and against her better judgment, she took a chance. She had no way of knowing that the unlikely friendship they formed would become so important to her.

Or that it would end so painfully.

Eight years later, when Lauren begins her new job at Learn and Grow Day Care, Michael is the last person she expects to see. Refusing to revisit the hurt and confusion of their past, Lauren vows to keep her distance from him. But staying away from Michael proves to be more difficult than she thought, despite her lingering grief and her instincts for self-preservation.

As Lauren and Michael recall the friendship that changed them forever and the events that tore them apart, will they finally be able to heal? Or will the ghosts of Michael’s past prove to be too much to overcome?

Everyone. Stop what you are reading right now and Read. This. Book.

I read Back to You for the very first time almost a year ago, and fell ridiculously in love. I read this book for the fourth time four days ago and fell deeper, more crazier in love. I read it again because this book is one that deserves a review, it deserves to be screamed from the rooftops and I read it (the three times) before I started my blog, and I so desperately want you to read this if you haven’t already. It is my absolute favourite second chance romance novel. Ever!

“I always knew I would fall in love with you, but you were never supposed to love me back.”
“What did you just say?”
“I loved you. So much. My God, more than anything.”

Congratulations Priscilla Glenn, you absolutely nailed this story. Hit it out of the ball park.

This is one of the most wonderful second chance love stories I have ever come across. Priscilla’s talent screams through the pages and I will read this book a hundred times over and never tire of it.

Back to You is slow building yet perfectly paced and beautifully written with flashbacks to when Lauren and Michael where in high school, how they met and how they came to be where they are in the present. The flashbacks were more than just ‘this is what happened back then’ scenes. Each time we went back, Priscilla showed us the ever growing connection between Lauren and Michael. Their connection was more powerful than the usual ‘best friends to lovers’ books and that’s what made it stand out for me amongst the other second chance stories. Their history went so much deeper and both of them really knew everything about each other. They respected one other and loved each other beyond anything. It was really beautiful to experience, and completely heartbreaking at the same time. You really felt this story. Ever single emotion ripped straight through me and hit me in the heart.

“For as long as I’ve known you, you’ve given me a part of you that you haven’t given to anyone else. And now I’m finally getting to do the same.”

The characters were probably my favourite thing about this entire book. I just adored them. I absolutely love Lauren. She is a wonderful, well educated, heroine with a heart of gold.

Michael is amazing. I fell hard for him, even with his flaws. He is a beautifully broken lost soul who is trying so hard to be the right guy for Lauren. He wants to be better for her and you cannot help but fall head over heals, madly in love with him. I said in my review of Emancipating Andie that Chase is my favourite hero of Priscilla’s books, but after reading Back to You again, I think Michael scrapes in with the win over my heart.

“You know something, Red? … I think we got a good thing going on here.”

I cannot fault anything Priscilla does. Really, there is nothing I do not love about anything she writes. She is honestly one of my absolute favourite authors in the entire would. I could read her stories over and over again and feel the very same thing, all the same emotions I did reading them for the very first time.

Please, please do yourselves a favour and read this book. I promise you, you will be thanking me you did.

I gave this book 6++ Stars because I can… and it freaking deserves it <3
