Hey guys! Today I’ve teamed up with the absolutely wonderful The Bibliotheque to bring you my top 5 romance reads for winter. It’s getting cold where my friends are over the other side of the world, which means it’s almost time to say goodbye to the beaches and piná-coladas and say hello to sweat-pants and a wine in front of the fire. But never fear! I’m here to help you with an accessory you cannot live without in the colder months….
A good book.
So sit back, charge up those kindles and find your favourite woollen blanket because you won’t be going anywhere all season.
1. The End Game by Kate McCarthy
This is a college football romance like no other. The End Game brought out more emotion than any other sports romance I have ever read. It goes deeper than the dramas of college students on campus. It’s raw, it’s emotional, it’s heart-wrenching but it’s also very funny and sweet. It touches on a topic I (personally) have never read about before and to be inside the heads of characters while they try and deal with the pressures of their personal lives, school, stardom and success in their fields was a wonderful ride, and Kate McCarthy nailed every part of it.
“…that’s what happens when your need to be the best eclipses all else. Sacrifices are made, and those you love are always the first to suffer.”
2. One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid
What a stunning story of self discovery. Of who you are vs. who you want to be. It’s beautiful, it’s powerful and it’s heartbreaking all at the same time. But I cannot recommend it enough. What an absolute pleasure it was so be able to experience this book. I’ll definitely be holding it close to my heart <3
“Don’t ever let anyone tell you the most romantic part of love is the beginning. The most romantic part is when you know it has to end.”
3. Into the Light by L.B. Simmons (formally called The Resurrection of Aubrey Miller)
This story will consume you. The romance is just beautiful. It will leave you with not a single tear left to cry. It will change you in ways you never realized. I truly believe that this is one of the most incredible books I have ever read. L.B Simmons’ flawless storytelling will leave you breathless. It will keep you on the edge of your seat while it takes hold of your heart and doesn’t let go.
“You know, if the sun and the moon were to collide, it would set off a cataclysmic reaction of epic proportions. Are you ready to have your world completely obliterated?”
4. The Hating Game by Sally Thorne
I cannot even begin to tell you how much fun this book was to read. **Eeeeekkkkk**. I Seriously couldn’t wipe the ridiculous smile of my face. It was FUN and SWEET and FUNNY and SEXY and OH SO HOT. This author has an AMAZING style of writing. The Hating Game went to the top of my ‘favourite read’ list in 2016. I highly recommend this for you guys who love a workplace ‘enemies to lovers’ romantic comedy. It’s seriously a perfect winter read. 5 stars!
1) An opponent or rival whom a person cannot best or overcome.
2) A person’s undoing
3) Joshua Templeman”
5. The Brave Line by Kate Stewart
Holy feeeeeeeeels. Wow. Just wow. I can’t even begin to describe to you all the emotions this book gave me. It was hot. It was sexy. It was oh. so. adorbale. And it was so funny! But the incredible feels in this book took me to another world. My heart was racing, my stomach was fluttering and I was hanging onto every single world this author had to say. It was raw, honest, beautiful, heartbreaking and so wonderful. A truely unforgettable story. A top favourite for sure!
“Also, he was fu— hot. I mean like Christian Grey, I’ll gladly take my panties off in a crowded restaurant to get fondled in an elevator full of people hot.”
So there you have it guys! My top 5 reads for winter! Although I could have made this list 100 books strong, I wanted to break it down to 5 of the reads that I really think you should all check out. I’ve tried to spread the genres out but keeping the main theme of ‘romance’ as the centre. Some are funny, some heartbreaking, some just ridiculously sexy but at the end of the day, they have some of my all time favourite love stories written between the pages.
